 Educational Links

Homeschooling offers us many opportunities to do things with our children that we would never have if we sent them off to a more traditional school setting.  Here is a list of links to some of the things that have been suggested by various members.

Please keep these things in mind as you look through the  sites below:
  • Just because something is posted on this page, it does not mean that the leadership of SCCHE endorses that website or activities.
  • The sites listed here are not part of the SCCHE website.  They may link to other websites with questionable material.  As always, be with your children while they are surfing.
  • If you find objectionable material on the sites posted here, please contact us so that we can investigate and remove offensive sites from this list.
  • Exploring good, educational sites and going on great field trips should not replace your home schooling.  It is simply meant to supplement it.

Reading and  Phonics Games:

Starfall.com - I have just learned of a great website for early learners.  It is called Starfall. The website is www.starfall.com.  It is a reading website and helps kids learn their letters and letter sounds.  Then they can read stories and plays when they are ready.  Also, there are printable pages for different things.  Very cool.  Nathan loves it.  I thought you might want to pass this one along.

Gymnastics at Gymquarters

I wanted to let homeschoolers know that there is a Homeschool gymnastics class at Gymquarters near Hwy 40 in O'Fallon. It is Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00 pm.  It costs $115 for a session consisting of 8 classes. The second child is discounted another 25%. There is an annual registration fee of $40 but anyone interested in signing up can contact me for coupons worth
$25 off the registration fee for new students. Right now, there is only one or two students signed up for this session which is such a great opportunity for more instruction.  Usually the ratio of students to teachers is 8 to 1.
You can call the gym to sign up to come to a free trial class. 636-498-6854.

Also please call me for the $25 off coupon before your class in case you decide to sign up that day. Cindy Wilson 636-734-7870.

Violin Lessons

My name is Kirby Kay.  I am new to the West County area and got your information from the SCCHE website.  I am excited to have found a homeschool network with Christ as the center of all things.  I am currently teaching violin students from the ages of 3-18 at the St. Louis School of Music, and I have open space in my studio.  Admittedly I am not very familiar with how any home school network works, however I thought I would see if there is any way to gauge interest from families you are familiar with.

I have more information about myself and the school upon request, but will share a bit of my teaching philosophy with you now.

I believe music is an important part of education for children.  It involves science, math, foreign language, history, and physical education while learning first hand about sound, beauty and art.  It creates discipline in a fun and nurturing learning environment and helps children develop creatively.  I strongly believe if a child is learning how to read, write, and calculate, they should also be learning how to solve problems by thinking outside of the box.

Daughters of Grace Dance Company

My name is Christi Berry and I am the ministry director at Daughters of Grace Dance Company.  We are a non-profit, Christian dance studio in Wentzville. We have just begun our 2nd year in the Wentzville area, and our 4th year as an organized dance ministry.  We offer homeschool Ballet, Tap, and Hip Hop classes to St. Charles/Lincoln/ Warren county students and are looking for ways to get our information out to our homeschool families.  We currently have a total of 130 students, but only 12 homeschool students.  We are extremely inexpensive as our goal is to further the gospel while serving our local families.  Our website is www.daughtersofgracedance.com and would love the opportunity to reach your homeschool families.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email or phone at 636-734-4956.
