Mrs. Suzanne Heck To All Instructors

Suzanne Heck received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education specializing in Learning Disabilities from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1982. She taught in a special education resource room for 2 years in Wichita, Kansas before becoming a stay at home mother of 3 boys. She returned to the classroom during the 1997-1998 school year. She has taught in a special education resource room in the Fort Zumwalt School District since then and is retiring at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. During this time, she has worked with students that have both learning disabilities and a variety of behavior problems. In addition, she is experienced with analyzing assessments to understand the best interventions for children with learning difficulties. She is trained and experienced with SPIRE, a program designed for children with dyslexia and other language processing problems that interfere with reading. She also has participated in many hours of continuing education and in-service training on strategies for teaching math and reading.

Suzanne is very familiar with homeschooling, has nieces and nephews who were homeschooled through high school, knows many homeschool families, and loves helping kids who struggle with learning. She is looking forward to being able to help many kids overcome their learning struggles.
