Mrs. Mana Malinofsky To All Instructors
Konnichiwa! Hello! My name is Mana Malinofsky, but you can call me Mana Sensei. Sensei means teacher in Japanese. It is how all teachers are addressed in Japan. My maternal great grandparents were the first in my family to immigrate from Japan to America in the early 1900’s, around 1916-1918. My parents met and married in Southern California. I studied Japanese at my parents’ Japanese Language School every Saturday until I graduated in 6th grade. I then went on to teach there part time when I was in high school. I went to University and graduated with a teaching certificate in elementary education. After graduation, I headed off to Japan with the J.E.T. (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program to teach English for a year. Upon my return to the U.S. I began teaching 2nd grade for several years. I am married and have a son in high school. This will be my fourth year teaching Japanese with SCCHE. I hope we will have fun in Japanese class this year! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! Looking forward to working with you!
